I’m always so grateful when I spot an owl as they are hard to see. This barred owl happened to take flight right in front of me as I was on a trail. I was on the lookout for this owl to see where it landed and finally saw it perched on a branch. As I watched its next moves, he began preening its feathers appearing as if was giving himself a hug.
